Christianna Strbik Giaume
(they/them)
Christianna Strbik Giaume is an artist researcher and embodiment guide. Most importantly, however, they are a human just being in a body listening to voices of the heart. In this way they are able to create an authentic space for expression of the soul.
Christianna was initiated into the somatic arts while living with their grandmother on ancestral land in Hungary. In order to find balance and harmony after arriving in Hungary, Christianna started observing the cycles of their grandmothers garden season after season. After a year of daily offerings to the garden, listening to stories, and connecting with their roots, Christianna started to use their observations to develop a method of somatically relating to the more-than-human.
Christianna was born on Paugussett, Wappinger, and Schaghticoke land in USA. Their research started while working as a crew member at Repurpose Savannah, a non-profit deconstruction and historical salvage company. After studying methods of deconstruction and history and bringing them into a somatic focus, Christianna then traveled to India to study yoga at Rishikesh Yogpeeth in April 2023. Inspired by the ancient masters of movement and philosophy, Christianna began researching the similarities between ancient yogic practices and somatic movement that allow us to become more in balance with the elements of the Earth.
Their experience in diverse fields has lead the consistent evolution of a movement research practice in order to form an artistic and teaching method by offering research-based classes. With an investigative lens, they are further examining multiple concepts that create a bridge between the human and more-than-human and applying it to multidisciplinary projects by attending symposiums and facilitating at festivals around Europe.
Christianna is a registered 200hr yoga instructor with an MA in dance education. They are currently studying and researching contact improvisation and somatic movement with Kontakt Budapest in Budapest, Hungary where they are based.
A nomadic artist who thrives on traveling and collaborating with artists all over the world, Christianna's mission is to reconstruct the bridge between human and more-than-human. They are currently creating nurturing spaces for exploration using methods such as: deep listening, free association, and Contemplative Dance Practice (CDP). They are here to help people remember the nature within their bodies.
